Not great for detail or a\u003cbr\u003eneat surface.\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e36 Gauge\u003c\/strong\u003e - A good needle for making the bulk of a 3D piece and again, attaching pieces well. Not good for any detail\u003cbr\u003ework.\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e40 Gauge\u003c\/strong\u003e- A fine needle for detail work and getting a neat surface. Best not to use it when working with coarse fibres or\u003cbr\u003efor rough sculpting\/bulk work.\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eStar Felting Needles - Barbs on 4 sides\u003cbr\u003e38 Gauge\u003c\/strong\u003e - Similar to the 36 Star but also good for slightly finer work and finer wools. This is a great all-round needle which works well for doing bulk sculpting work and adding detail and is therefore the needle we have in our kits.\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSpiral Felting Needles - Barbs that twist around the needle\u003cbr\u003e36 Gauge\u003c\/strong\u003e - The barbs on these needles twist around the end. This makes them felt quickly and gives a neat finish minimising the surface holes you can get with other needles. They are less good for doing bulk sculpting work.\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eReverse Felting Needles\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eThe barbs on these needles go the other way, pulling the fibres out rather than pushing them in.
