Right Material for the Job…
These cottons are absolutely beautiful to work with. They have just the right amount of lustre to really enhance fine weaving patterns and the large range of colours complement each other so well. The strength of this cotton is excellent making it perfect for warping. Your woven pieces will have good drape, last well wash after wash and most of all feel lovely to wear.

Refer to your project pattern to determine how much cotton you will need  to complete your project.  It is always better to get a little more than you need especially when sampling or if you get a tad over-zealous with your beating; don’t worry, we have all been there!

If you are new to weaving you could also check out our range of Ashford weaving books. They contain a lovely little treasure trove of tips, tricks and patterns to get you started.

Happy weaving!

Please note the following cottons are out of stock:

Twilight Grey 5/2
Bleached White 5/2
True Blue 5/2
Scuba Blue 5/2

We are happy to take orders which will be placed on back order however we are unsure of a date for dispatch at this stage.

Ask a Question
  • how do you work out the thickness of the cottons. I am new to this adn as you will know i purchassed an inklette this week. What size cotton you you advise me to warp the look with and weave with. Cheers Ross

Thanks for your great question. The simple way to work out cottons is we have two available a 10/2 and a 5/2 100% Mercerised Cotton. The 5/2 is twice as thick as the 10/2. The 5/2 is the weight of cotton typically found it your favourite tea towel. It is also the perfect cotton weight for use on the Inkle and Inklette Looms. This 5/2 weight makes for great guitar straps.  Happy weaving Aunt Jenny xx
