Raw fleece processing roundup

Here is a roundup of our favorite tools and equipment for processing raw fleece. We have included the Ashford Book of Hand Spinning as there is excellent info regarding choosing and cleaning raw fleeces.

Remember that you need to clean your fleece before using it on drum carders or natural oils and waxes will build up in your carding cloth. If you like spinning in the grease, try keeping a separate pair of hand carders for the job or use your flicker. While build-up will still happen, it is much easier to clean smaller areas or replace the cloth on hand carders as opposed to the drum carders.
